how to resume download on opera mini

Oct 06 2014 at 07:35am

from a normal look at things it seems like opera mini do not allow users to resume a download after it is interrupted but this is not completely true and i will be sharing with you an old trick that works like charm on opera mini version 5.0 and later also tested on symbian, android, java and most BB and works fine.

Lets get started, lets say you are downloading a file "PnApp.apk" and this file is about 10mb of file size, your download progresses to about 5mb and then it was stopped (by poor network, low battery or your data plan is exhausted) if you will like to continue this download(resume) without starting from the very first byte, using a file explorer simply located the file on the current save folder for downloads from your opera mini (in android its usually /downloads) when you get to this folder you should find the file you are downloading (in our example "PnApp.apk") .

Now rename the file by adding "cont" to the original name (in our example after renaming the filename will be "PnAppcont.apk" or PnAppcont if your file explorer hides extension part).
Next, when you are ready to resume the download goto the link where the file is(online) then start a fresh download, Allow the file to download upto 10kb then pause the download and go back to the download folder(using a file explorer) and delete the new file and rename the old file with "cont" by removing "cont" from the filename then return to opera Mini and resume the paused download. It will jump to the size of the last download in 1 second and there you have it. you can resume download with opera mini.
